Again, I simply do not understand your position, although I am trying. What if I decide that, based on my research, that Christianity is an evil religion and should be prohibited? What if I got 150 million of my closest friends to agree? Should we as a society thus decide that Christianity is immoral and should be banned?

Separation of church and state is necessary for a very simple reason. If they are not separated, then which religion do we choose? Do we rotate, do a show of hands, or a roll of the dice? Separation of church and state is a positive ideal because it allows people to choose and practice their religion of choice without fear of repression from the majority religion.
