<<The soldiers have also been issued with inflammable beer, so that they can drink it and spew flame at a potential enemy. >>

From which end? Seems one would have a more accurate aim.

The Gnomish Vaults
or
Lost Treasures

No one will ever know what treasures have been lost into the gnomish vaults of Helvetia. Once the gnomes have buried a thing it is forever lost to this world, their vaults are connected to the deep places on this earth figuratively and literally. You can get from Geneva to Tibet in hours. Your glowing description of the Swiss Militiaman points out the truth quite effectively, bank robbers often get caught because they flash huge wads of cash, just like the Swiss. Do the Swiss honestly expect everyone to believe they got all their nice things by being frugal ?

In Canada and the US banks are regularly checked, mainly to see if there is any extra money for education, in Switzerland the gnomes basically own the country and no one would ever dream of checking a gnomes pocket.
