That story is just great. It really is illustrative of the destructive power of misleading accounting techniques. It's interesting how tech leaders will decry the end of the creative earnings power of Silicon Valley, if their reporting chicanery is thwarted. I wish they would just focus on the important thing, which is growing the business, rather than financially engineering the business to appear that it is growing. But then again, with stupid policy makers in the FASB, do we blame them for using what's legal to put their companies in the best light?
