Hyperbole
(hy PER bo le)
Greek: "excess, exaggeration"
a hyperbole is an exaggeration used for emphasis, that is not to be interpreted literally.
Examples: I told you a thousand times not to exaggerate. ; When it rains the students pack on the bus like sardines. ; I wouldn't give him the time of day.
