I just looked at the faculty list. I'm amazed at how many people have listed feminism, gender studies and womens' literature as specialties.

The 'close reading of text" has me confused. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with hermeneutics, which at least one person has listed as a specialty. Not that I under this either, mind you.

her·me·neu·tics Pronunciation Key (hûrm-ntks, -ny-)

The theory and methodology of interpretation, especially of scriptural text.
