Elmer,

The Jews I know don't find it offensive and the time I spent in Israel I found the term used freely.

That reminds me an incident from my college days (early days of the Political Correctness), we had a discussion and I used the term Jew. This was a class for non-native speakers (I had no idea that this was a sensitive subject). The professor "corrected me" that I should use Jewish person, Jewish people, rather than Jew or Jews, since, according to her some people find if offensive. We had about 3 or 4 Jewish guys from Israel in the class, and they argued with her, saying the word Jew is just fine, there is nothing offensive about it.

Joe

When I visit Santa Cruz Ca I find the term "Male" used in a derogatory sense but not everyone hates men, only most of the Women.

EP, I live just "over the hill" in Silicon Valley, and I don't know what you mean here. 'Splain?
