Cory, ease off, Gottfreid stumbled into incorrect useage since English is a second language and intended no racial derogation. Later posts by him reveal this.

Regardless of his intent, he has withdrawn the post and everyone is entitled to make an occasional mistake. We are all human.

Mike has a link to a Tec Channel story about T-bred:

theinquirer.net

Gist of the story (from puzzling through an Englishish auto-translation) seems to be that AMD is shipping volume Thoroughbred, starting in the next couple of weeks, to big OEMs who won't be releasing boxes at retail for about 2 months. There won't be any shipments to distribution until the big OEMs have their boxes available in the channel.

This is the way Intel used to do things - it allowed big OEMs like Compaq and IBM to have product available at retail as soon, or sooner, than the whitebox makers.

The story indicates that they got this information from one of the OEMs, not from AMD. Tec Channel speculated that grey market parts would start showing up pretty soon, ahead of the OEM launches expected in May (since that always happens with these deferred releases).

You know, for a chip that's supposedly going to be introduced at a performance level only 4.75% faster than the current chip (2200 vs. 2100), have no architectural improvements, fit in the same socket, and use the same motherboards - in other words, what is supposed to be a total non-event, especially considering Intel will be at 2.4GHZ by then (or faster) - there sure is a lot of marketing and mystery associated with this release.

Bill
Jew is not derogatory in any shape or form. I am one and proud to be one. "Jew-controlled" is what was in German propaganda before the Kristallnacht (crystal night) in 1938. One should never forget, especially if that one is german
