The current big issue with Amazon has to do with
how well its partners are doing. Its partner
Toys R Us is still losing money. The current relationship
between Amazon and Toys R Us reminds me of the relationship
Boston Market had with its developers. Boston Market
was making lots of $$, but the developers of the franchise
stores were losing money. The losses that were being
incurred by the developers never showed up on the Boston
Market income statement. Boston Market eventually got
hit when the developers defaulted on their loans from
Boston Market.
