Idiot,

Neither the NRA nor the gun manufacturers defend the right of criminals to own guns. They have both done far more throughout history to prevent and (permanently) stop violent crimes than the bureaucracy-stifled "criminal justice system". Far more...

Kevin,

The problem isn't that laws have or haven't been passed to take guns away from criminals. There are currently laws that prohibit convicted felons to be in possession of a firearm. There are laws against using (and I believe possessing) a gun in the commission of a crime. The problem is that these laws don't seem to work.

The fight is over taking hand guns away from everyone else, in order ot make it more difficult for criminals (and children) to obtain them.

Have you written your representatives to complain about the lack of prosecution of the Brady Law? The NRA has. If you haven't you are a hypocrite. At least it would be a verifiable action to limit criminal violence. As the Nike ad says, JUST DO IT.

Guns are just a tool, ask any cop.

<<Distortion. When people who are fed up with gun violence try to pass laws to take the guns away from criminals, these criminals are defended by gun nuts and the NRA. >>

Nope, you're distorting things. The NRA has always campaigned for harsher penalties for gun crimes.

Reminds me of when I went down for the hearing on a right to carry in my state. There were bus loads of people from Southside Chicago that showed up to rally against it. Their representative, Rod Blagoivitch, stated why he was against the bill. No shit, he actually stated that allowing victims to be armed would be unfair to rapists, robbers and muggers.
