get rid of the bad guys and set the country up for democracy. There's a contradiction here? You think Iraq is going to magically turn into a democracy on its own? The only way you get there is by going in, kicking out the current gov't (GWB's father's disastrous failing), set up your own gov't, then feed and support it for a while to stabilize it. I'm a lot less fond of this idea than you might think. I think there are likely to be serious American losses in doing it. But what is the alternatives? We certainly can't expect anything of the UN or the Europeans.
