I wouldn't dispute that at all. Politics would be improved if more people thought that way.

But the fact is, Clinton and his people claimed credit for the 1990's. ("Are you better off than you were four years ago?") He's hardly the first to claim credit for a good economy.

In an idiotic way it's fair. They also get the blame for bad ones that aren't their fault. Witness Hoover and Bush I.

Now if they wanted to blame the boom, bubble, and bust on the Federal Reserve....
