Sayonara Seiko............Seiko May Sell All or Part of Its Seiko Epson Stake (Correct)
By Takahiko Hyuga and Kyoko Suzuki

(Corrects second paragraph to say liabilities are likely to exceed assets.)

Tokyo, March 18 (Bloomberg) -- Seiko Corp., a Japanese watchmaker projected to post its third full-year loss in five years, may sell part of its 6 percent stake in Seiko Epson Corp. this month to avert insolvency.

Seiko is considering selling some or all of its Seiko Epson stake by the end of March as the watchmaker's liabilities are likely to exceed assets when its fiscal year ends on March 31, said Masayasu Akizawa, a spokesman at Seiko.

Seiko owns about 6 percent of the affiliate, said Seiko Epson spokesman Katsuyuki Kanuma, confirming a figure in a Nihon Keizai Shimbun when it reported the plans earlier today.
