I'll just point out again the irony: at the top of the bubble the bears couldn't trash the CEOs
enough because of their ultra-rosy biz predictions, now at the bottom the bears want to
embrace the CEOs because they are the only ones anyone can still find who are stuck in the
recession rut. <<<

excellant observation

Brian ... no disrespect intended, but it sounds like you have inhaled Barron's ... my opinion, and without any disrespect to you, is that analyzing and interpreting what I read is my biggest key ... more than any publication, Barron's likes to fuck with my and your mind ...

... but after reading Barron's, the Economist, Business Week, Fortune, Forbes, The Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, ContraryInvestor.com, Morgan Stanley's Global Economic Forum, Richard Russell and Silicon Investor on a daily or weekly basis (and also studying the teachings and methods of Larry Williams) ... my path is usually very clear ...

... and yes, I do this full time ...

Embrace what? CEOs ACTIONS speak louder than words

i.e. capex, hiring, etc.

Look at their actions, even if I mentioned Larry E. Even insider selling as brokered by the very same outfits that come out with price 'targets' and recommendations on those very stocks.

for e.g. Qwest insiders conducted their last (major) 'diversification' sales in May 2001. (Coincidence? I think not)

Talk is cheap from folks who could not predict the downturn, tag-along journalists, and 'economists' who look to the stock market as a guide for their profession
imo.

Yep, everything is lagging, if one looks at it that way. Everything except price, which is current and supposedly a predictor for the future.

No matter how 'leading' they may say some indicators are.
