You could dream up a catchy title and create a new subject.

Keep the current CPQ thread and ask SI to slightly change it's name so it can be found via a search for, "Compaq," as well as HP--this way new people joining SI who were CPQ shareholders can find it. Keeping the existing thread will enable us to locate old postings easily if desired. Also, we could very well have different opinions on the HP/CPQ merger than current HWP shareholders and want to discuss different issues [based in our knowledge of CPQ in the past].

Old threads no longer receiving postings eventually 'disappear,' making it impossible to access them in the future. I found this out trying to locate some postings on the now defunct CoreStates thread (bank bought-out by First Union, now called Wachovia) last year. This was during the SI Bob days and even his assistance (via PMs) couldn't uncover the old CFL thread.

Also, there could very well develop an 'us [ex-CPQ]' vs. 'them [ex-merger HQP]' situation for a while. Keeping a separate thread for ex-CPQ people might yield more fruitful discussion.
