I have a friend in Europe who writes to me and closes all her emails with GFY
I still don't know if she knows what it means
They are very friendly emails, so I'm sure she doesn't mean it in a hostile way
and I'm wondering if SHE thinks it means something other than what it actually means
or maybe it has more than one meaning?
Does it mean something else in Europe?

LOL. The reason I'm laughing was that until just recently I thought it stood for "good for you." I'm not sure what that says about my neighborhood.

Someone posted a link to X's profile. I looked at it and I didn't realize what it meant. Since it was in the company field, I thought it has something to do with X's employer (but I couldn't think of a company with the name or the stock symbol GFY and then I remembered that X was a teacher.

Rather then spend any more mental effort figuring it out I replied to the poster (or the link to X's profile) asking what it meant. Neo quickly responded and I went back to my post and edited out the question because I felt silly about not figureing it out right away (and also because I didn't need anyone else to answer).

That a minor weakness that I have. I get more upset then I should be when I say something stupid or unintentionally silly. Might have something to do with the earnestness that you pointed out more then once. I think I am getting better about it though. I am a lot more able to make fun of myself, or to laugh with others at a silly mistake that I made, then I used to be in my teens or twenties. I was pretty uptight about it back then.
