It could be defensive. In this case I do not believe that is the case. Avoidance. Cop out. Whatever you wish to call it. I've always seen it as a sort of elitism or snobbery.

And, BTW I'm a lawyer. Decency rarely governs my actions...<g>

my opinion on the ignore feature?

it is a useful tool provided by SI to escape what you feel is ugly here or evade a poster's presence [like closing a door]

the problem comes in when someone feels the need to tell that person they are now on 'ignore'

it's a matter of closing the door or slamming it shut
