hmaly, anecdotal evidence suggests that Intel owns the retail channel in the US. I don't know where AMD is selling all their cpus but they will eventually have to fight for their home turf. They need a superior solution and not just price/performance but absolute performance to regain that piece of the market and head for the magical 30%.
