Dan, There's a big problem with confusing selfishness with self-protection. The selfishness is what causes animosity and 911 incidents. Don't you agree? So if we want to live in a country that isn't being constantly terrorized, we might consider backing down a notch or two and create fewer enemies around the world. Or do you prefer a militarized, terrorized and anxious future to one that is mellow, fair and well-ordered? Re: I can't imagine why you might feel we are wrong to attempt to protect ourselves thusly. Protecting ourselves by being selfish seems particularly idiotic to me. Recall that we Americans are about 4% of the world's population. Pissing off large swathes of the world is a 100% guarantee of resentment and further terrorization of our population. Surely that isn't what you want, is it? -Ray
