<<i frankly don't think i've painted a particularly gloomy scenario. for self-indulgent baby boomers and the criminal class in silicon valley, the next handful of years will probably feel like Hell, but in any sort of absolute sense 1-2% GDP growth, 6%-ish unemployment, 4% bond yields and a stock market that goes somewhere between down and nowhere is hardly the end of the world.>>

If we get those results, then Greenspan has won. I don't think we will, but I agree that your scenario is FAR from gloomy.

<<All these bleached suburban baby-boomer a*&holes decying the loss of their guaranteed capital gains need to spend a day with the single mom of the shortstop for my Boston little-league team and get a friggin' clue>>

Agree with that sentiment, no matter WHAT the economy brings us...

BTW, went to the Mariners-Brewers Cactus league game yesterday with Patron, Jr. Mariners looked, well, like they were shipwrecked! (Lost 22-6). Ichiro grounded into a double play, made no effort at all to catch a fly about 30 feet in front of him....looks like "tough love" for Seattle this year.<NG>
