Re: Jibril Rajoub

From the analysis of the various players that I've read in the French news media, he sounded like someone pragmatic. Pragmatic enough for example to have learned to speak Hebrew fluently to follow exactly what's going on in Israel for himself.

He would be difficult to negotiate with, but better than a pathological liar.

In the same news articles I'm thinking of, I read how all supplies for the Gaza strip come from Israel, and how Arafat's associates completely control this, making themselves millionaires in $US. They have VIP passes to come and go unlike the average Palestinian. (Can this really be true?) I should have saved the articles while they were online, as the analysis was a little different than what I've seen in the US media.

A poster just mentioned how useful it is to have access to non-English media to see what other people are thinking, and that's quite true.

Naturally, anybody rational, like Rajoub, is out of step with the current extremist policy.

Yes... it is pretty sad that one of the few people willing to work with Israel to achieve mutual goals is potentially being politically neutralized by Arafat and his thugs.

He refused to meet him and gave the general impression that the US forsees Palestine without him.

Well, that's probably a bit too much to hope for. However, no one knows what schemes are being hatched toward advancing that end.
