<My PC running Windows 98 now takes hours to defrag> Sounds like a program is still running. Perhaps invisibly, and reading or writing to the drive while defrag is running. Do a <CTR ALT DEL> and "End Task" for all programs except Explorer and Systray. Then RUN defrag again. Stang

hours to defrag I prefer to use Norton Disk Doctor in place of Scandisk and Norton Speed Disk in place of Disk Defrag. In my opinion they do a better job, run more efficiently, and tolerate other programs open such as ScreenSavers, AntiVirus programs etc.
