Since you have gone beyond 50% this probably doesn't apply but the virus is called funlove. "Scandisk and Disk Defragmenter Processes Are Not Completed When you attempt to run Disk Defragmenter or Scandisk, they may not run to completion; the process may stop when it is anywhere from one percent to 50 percent complete. These symptoms may also occur when you attempt to run Disk Defragmenter or Scandisk from Safe mode. This could mean that your computer has been infected with the Fun Love virus. "
