>> Your position is most interesting… You see that making drugs illegal has not solved anything, and yet you would not legalize them <<

making immigration illegal when pursued in an improper manner hasn't stopped the flood of illegal immigrants into this country. so you could say that our laws on illegal immigration have clearly not been effective, just as drug laws have not been effective. let's apply the same logic to immigration as you are advocating in our drug policy. let's repeal laws restricting immigration. do you seriously believe that immigrants would suddenly lose the incentive to stop pouring into this country? of course not. it would exacerbate the problem.

>> If you see that making drugs illegal has not solved the problem (of drug usage), do you think that making drugs illegal has brought many problems itself? <<

legalizing drugs would not solve the problem, because laws making them illegal were not the cause of the problem in the first place. the drugs came first, not the laws. we didn't used to have many of the drug laws we have today, because drug use wasn't a problem. only after drugs started becoming a pervasive problem did the need arise for laws prohibiting their use.

so to argue that making drugs illegal is what caused the increase in their use and to say that if they were to be made legal people would suddenly stop, doesn't fly wth me
