First of all, there is a lot of major media outside of NYC where Jews do not predominate. If it is outside NYC, it is not major. Well, maybe Washington. DC of course. <g> Joe, you don't consider CNN of Atlanta major, AOL/Time Warner in DC, the studios [I consider studios a significant form of media] and publications in LA including Walt Disney's ownership of ABC [while the head of Disney is Jewish, I don't think ABC's head is]major, and two lesser organizations....the Times Corp. of LA and the Tribune Organization of Chicago.....both own a number of newspapers and publications and isn't one of the news services out of Tennessee? My point is that American media is huge and very diverse. Yes, there is a large concentration in NYC and yes there is a large Jewish population in NYC but it doesn't follow that Jews control the media or head up the major media corps. in every instance. Of course, they influence the media as media employees but so do the Prots. and Caths and Muslims etal who work in the media as well. We are an advanced country......we may be insular and we may not be on top of our game in terms of world events like some Europeans but we are not naive or uninformed. May be that was true of 1950's America but its not true of America today. Its a European bias that may have a little truth to it but only a little. I think Gottfried mentioned he is a French Canadian. Europeans (especially the French) feel that they are much more sophisticated that than American rednecks, so do Canadians. Now combine French and Canadian.... <g> Are you sure Gottfried is from Canada.....I thought he was from Switzerland? I always get him mixed up with another guy whose tag starts with a B.........I thought one was from Denmark, and the other from Switzerland. But if he is French Canadian....that's a breed unto their own. Sorry, though, Gottfried has got to be a European name.....German or Polish or Swiss. Whatever! I tried to avoid posting a rant about his post and succeeded Sunday nite........but it was too tempting tonite. ;~)) ted
