When I had an extraordinarily good year in 2000 my CPA must have put the word out, because I started getting calls from people who had all the methods in the world for sheltering as much income as desired. It was an education. You can shelter legally and in good concience in real estate and VC investments, commensurate with risk and various social engineering goals of Congress. But then, there are the "legal" scams, such as offshore transfer-pricing, that are out of reach of the disenfranchised or who just believe in supporting government. These companies make their living and their entire bonuses out of that game. The game is created by our ever-loving representatives in government, in secret meetings and obfuscated language. A flat tax would help. Exposure is the ultimate weapon, tho' ...and removal of all elected and hired officials - replacing them with a random lottery, selected from SI members, of course (can you imagine ...)
