<<The executions and fills are just the same as if you entered the order manually using the BEST execution route.>>

I believe you can send NQ orders directly to GLOBEX...it's just the equity accounts that require BEST routing.

I have the ActiveX TWS1 OCX control up and running. Basically it's just like an OLE connection to the TWS application (which itself is like a spreadsheet). The events refresh the tick data byVal, and the methods just link specific cells. I got the Excel spreadsheet to work, but you would still have to write the VB code to add trailing stops and other logic/rules you would want to employ. If you are able to write that code, you might as well set up the ActiveX control and write a VB app, which is what I'm doing. I'm still not convinced that the TWS java application can run on the desktop for any length of time without crashing, that would have to be seen.

Notes on the demo: It's good for demo purposes, but it's kinda flaky and not reliable. I verified this by telephone conversation with Interactive. It's flaky in the area of executing paper trades on the 50K they give you in demo accounts. The trades will sit pending and never fill. It also stopped streaming quotes for a while when the market opened. Bottom line is that the demo can allow you to write and test code, but it won't allow you to stress test any code or simulate real time conditions for any length of time.

Have you considered looking at TradeStation 6.0? They just lowered their commission rate to 1.2 cents/share with a $99.95/month base data fee (including real-time Level II and options but delayed futures).

I'm also an IB user and I too was thinking about trying to write some code to kick off some of my IB trades. But now I think I'll just give TradeStation a try since it has about everything I want built in and is now competitive. As a matter of fact I think it might be more than competitive.

Has anybody else had any luck with TradeStation yet? (I know this is not the place, but TradeStation doesn't appear to have a regular thread)
