Gottfried,
better use Price/Sales instead. Earnings are a residual figure. Usually in a recovery or turnaround, shares start with a HIGH PE and a LOW PSR.. and then they turn up..

Actually I could not find a PE ratio for the SOX anywhere. Admittedly I agree with everything you said except that whether it is valuable as a methodology for measuring valuation I still would like to see it.

We all know that the stocks on the SOX are at historically high valuations based on PE ratio. Anyway I too agree the point is probably mute. Tonight we will get new btb numbers. Perhaps they will indicate growth strong enough to support these lofty prices based on future earnings?

The FED meets before that today. It will be very interesting... No?
