That must be why NTT is deploying FTTH today, eh?

"Variable spreading factor OFCDM" is interesting. So, each receiver receives multiple codes on multiple carriers, each carrier containing a multiplex of multiple codes with a common spreading factor, but potentially a different spreading factor than a neighboring frequency channel? Sounds like an awfully expensive receiver (maybe not by 2010 though, who knows). Especially if each receiver potentially receives a different subset of codes per channel. It would sure make it easy to claim just about any bit rate and no one could prove you wrong.

Any idea what they are doing on the upstream?
