Dear Ish: A friend of mine, A AIRLINE PILOT who flew out of BOSTON of all places (big jets too) when they first instituted the strict security after 9/11 became INDIGNANT when they told him to take off his shoes. He said, "I am the PILOT I dont need a damn bomb to bring down this plane" . Of course he meant that in a SENSIBLE way but he was immediately escorted into a room for FBI interrogation, replaced as the pilot on that flight and eventually severely reprimanded. He says something to the effect, what a bunch of stupidity. Now wants to retire, says its ridiculous what is going on. jdn

Yeah, a doctor on a fishing vacation in Sitka said if he didn't get his luggage he was going to come back as a terrorist. He was arrested, and Alaska Airlines refuses to fly him for the rest of his life. He had to get back to Seattle on a medical jet because there's no way to drive.

It's not funny. People forget that what went by last year ain't goin' by no more.
