Michael--- WW has put a bullet into HP and only Carly can heal that wound without a major disability in its future. I believe many that may not have liked the idea merger (those that did not bail) have looked into the future of HP with the bullets of WW lodged in its brain and spine. A failed merger will see sr mgmt (the brains) leave and seriously curtail all movement in every direction. Can anyone believe WW has not done more to hurt HP than anyone or anything could do if the merger fails? WW is just a spolied brat with too much money that finally has a "cause" that he could run with and his condition would not be as evident. Besdides-- if his name were Smith he would have been laughed at by those feeble minded enough to follow him at this time...........

Dear hio: I sure wish this had received more media attention during this proxy mess: "Compaq, by contrast, has been able to maintain that... the company is also well-positioned on its own."

Yesterday the Texas Teachers Plan voted against the merger. I'm assuming this is a statement that they would rather have *Compaq* stay independent rather than they think buying CPQ will be bad for HWP. For all I know, other HWP 'AGAINST' votes could very well have been cast by people/institution/funds who hold both stocks and want to 'save' CPQ from HWP rather than the reverse.

Regards,

Lynn, 50paq
