The yearlong agreement involves Compaq ensuring FTML's system availability at 99.9 percent and enhancing its service continuity to subscribers, stated a press release. "Compaq Global Services is able to deliver up to 99.9 percent IT system availability - that's a maximum of five minutes downtime over a period of one year," explained IT director at FTML, Bassel Jamaleddin. FTML, the Lebanese branch of France Telecom Mobiles International, was set up in 1994 with a capital of $30 million. FTML is broadening the scope of its services by turning to mobile Internet converging products. Other than the commercialization of its classic post-paid subscriptions and its pre-paid cards, both including a variety of tailor made offers targeted at either the residential or the professional market, Cellis now offers its subscribers a variety of online services. Compaq's Global Services division specializes in the delivery of IT consultancy and management for enterprise business customers in the Gulf and Levant. Compaq's review and analysis processes are largely based on the Avanto system, a model developed by the company. The model is programmed to analyze the data and generate a detailed report recommending the optimum availability level for the customer. Compaq Computer Middle East Mediterranean and Africa is based in the Jebel Ali Free Zone in Dubai and currently has a network of resellers offering its full range of products and services in Bahrain, Cyprus, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, UAE and Yemen.
