12:25PM: The market remains quiet, but the Dow and the Nasdaq have climbed to new session highs as investors bet that Greenspan will make positive comments on the economy. A rate change is not expected, but a change in bias would be important. However, strong comments from the Fed saying that the recovery is well underway would spur the market higher....While Hewlett-Packard (HWP 19.84 +0.59) is the leading percentage mover, many names have made a push over the last hour or so....
The deep discount retailers are leading the group higher, thanks to Dollar General's (DG 16.81 +1.44) earning report. FDO +5%, NDN +3%....Airline stocks remain grounded today. ACAI -6%, CAL -5%, UAL -5%.NYSE Adv/Dec 1581/1230, Nasdaq Adv/Dec 1680/1555
