the Seattle Post-Intelligencer is a larger, more mainstream source than the Times, with which I'm not familiar.

Total bull. The PI was bought out by the much larger and more powerful Seattle Times about 15 years ago. The smaller, more liberal, PI was going bankrupt. The Times made them a deal and became their employer.
