I've believed for a long time that the UN should hire Gurkhas to form the core of a force to be used for immediate intervention in genocide situations and for peacekeeping duties. There would be many advantages. They are superb soldiers, Nepal needs the money, there would be no political repercussions if casualties were taken, and none of the countries where they operated would ever suspect them of being point men for creeping Nepalese imperialism.
