If it does, that is the fault of whoever released the patch in the first place. 3) Athlon also requires software patches for maximum performance. Even AMD's web site includes SYSMark 2001 results with an optimized Windows Media Encoder. (Don't try to spin this one, Dan. A patch is a patch, even if the changes are trivial.) 4) My own home-built Pentium 4 system is far from "fussy." In fact, it is rock-solid stable. Have you even used a Pentium 4 in your life? Without older benchmarks like these, AMD would be looking quite a bit less compelling. As benchmarks like these become fewer and fewer, and are updated with newer versions, like Winstone 2002 (which favors the Pentium 4), then Intel will slowly come out ahead. It seems inevitable. AMD will need Hammer by the end of the year to remain competitive. wbmw
