From a time perspective I see that ED going on for another month. I also agree that we are finished or just finishing the 'iii'. Boy would that be a monster down wave which comes out of that. Certainly bears watching.

It also means we go above 11K

Semi Book To Bill .87

Now I admit I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed but it seems to me that if we are emerging from a recession that the B to B would at least be greater than 1.

To the moon Alice.

North American Semiconductor Equipment Industry Posts February 2002 Book-to-Bill Ratio Of 0.87
PR NEWSWIRE - March 19, 2002 18:06
SAN JOSE, Calif., Mar 19, 2002 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- The North American-based manufacturers of semiconductor equipment posted $712 million in orders in February 2002 (three-month average basis) and a book-to-bill ratio of 0.87, according to the February 2002 Express Report published today by Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI). A book-to-bill of 0.87 means that $87 worth of new orders were received for every $100 of product billed for the month.

The three-month average of worldwide bookings in February 2002 was $712 million. The bookings figure is 10 percent above the revised January 2002 level of $645 million and 56 percent below the $1.61 billion in orders posted in February 2001.

The three-month average of worldwide billings in February 2002 was $822 million. The billings figure is three percent above the revised January 2002 level of $800 million and 64 percent below the February 2001 billings level of $2.28 billion.

"Although the prevailing consensus is that 2002 will be a challenging year, the picture has brightened with recent announcements by some chipmakers of possible upward revisions in capital spending and the incremental acceleration of bookings over the last three months," said Stanley Myers, president and CEO of SEMI.

The SEMI book-to-bill is a ratio of three-month moving average bookings to three-month moving average billings for the North American semiconductor equipment industry. Billings and bookings figures are in millions of U.S. dollars.

Billings Bookings (Three-month avg.) (Three-month avg.) Book-to-Bill

September 2001 960.7 614.0 0.64
October 2001 895.5 644.4 0.72
November 2001 817.2 588.9 0.72
December 2001 819.3 628.5 0.77
January 2002 (final) 799.9 645.2 0.81

February 2002 (prelim.) 822.1 711.6 0.87

The data are contained in a monthly Express Report published by SEMI that tracks billings and orders worldwide of North American-based manufacturers of equipment used to manufacture semiconductor devices, not billings and orders of the chips themselves. The February 2002 Express Report is scheduled for publication on April 22, 2002 (subject to change).
