The extra extensive appeals process for capital cases in the US could have a similar effect in terms of allowing extra time

I didn't even know they were extra extensive. I though they were only extensive.<g>

Seriously though, there are cases where one cannot help but support the death penalty; such as in the case of career politicians! <gg> (as stolen from William Frist)
