If Intel doesn't help developers update their code with modern techniques, who will? AMD?

They don't have the resources to do it - and it wouldn't benefit them, either, since they currently lead in legacy applications.

But remember that improving the code helps the performance of both AMD and Intel, so the value is given to the consumer. Why shouldn't the benchmarks reflect this? Because it puts AMD in a less favorable light?
