John: Bottom line still doesn't seem to be the focus of this board among others. I still think earnings matter and bookvalue/stockholders equity matters. Each business is actually three businesses. One making the revenues and earnings, second taking those earnings to stockholders equity and the third reducing that with option exploitation for the benefit of top management. If you really look at what I consider as the true measure of enhancement of shareholders equity, Dell hasn't grown that for several years. This one thing will keep the stock under $30 for a while. There are other trends in the market that Dell has to manage. Contrary to everybody's opinion, HWP CPQ merger will be good for the combined company. If HWP sticks only with printer business, it will go the way Xerox went. You need IBM size and breadth to compete in the new markets.
Can Dell get there? Possible, not certain. Until more proof of that comes I will stay with Dell under $30 range.
