Trimming the number of processor vendors for a part of their product portfolio from 2 to 1 is not going to have a significant net savings.

You missed his point, although he didn't go into any detail. Having 2 cpu vendors means having 2 entirely different architectures. 2 CPUs to validate. 2 Motherboards. 2 Chipsets to design and validate. 2 OSs. Now do it all over again for 2-way and then do it over again for 4-way and then do it over again for n-way.

Can someone explain to me why when two companies become one they go from two suppliers of MPUs to one? Makes no sense to me. It does increase the risk if such was to happen but the cost of having two suppliers probably less than for each individually. These idiotic Intellibee comments are just that, idiotic. Get a life.
