Is it possible that they may spin-off the pc or imaging division?

Lynn - I think this is smart. Compaq could never lose the "boxmaker" image - so use that fact as a positive. HP has a pretty weak brand value in commercial desktops, Compaq the boxmaker is very well regarded. Even more so in consumer with the Presario line.

ProLiant has a very strong value in the volume server space, but there, the use of ProLiant as a sub-brand under the HP name will retain the value while shedding the "boxmaker" ball and chain.

The use of Compaq as a PC sub-brand also leaves the iPaq brand available and with some linkage.

Actually a very good move, the more I think about it.
