The only thing that keeps Lloyd Bentson from being on the short list of greatest idiots ever to occupy a Senate seat is that there is so much competition. In politics "Watch what they do, not what they say." is the opposite of understanding. Bob Dole put the process far above principles, and was thus a soon-to-be-forgotten failure in history. Those who fight for the ideal will eventually prevail-but not tomorrow morning. It's a long war.
