Thanks, Poet. It seems to me, as well, that there are things that we cannot prove publicly that are nevertheless real in our lives. Juridically, I have used this example: one may witness a murder, and know without doubt who did it, and yet the person may not be convicted in a court of law due to lack of corroboration and a rule against convicting on the basis of one witness. Thus, there is no proof of the allegation, and it fails in that context (quite reasonably), and yet you know what you witnessed. More personally, I have used the example of characterizing one's relationships: I know that my wife loves me, but I have no good way of proving it, if challenged, in a public forum like this. In the same way, belief may be founded on evidence that is not readily adduced or verified, but nevertheless is real enough, and strengthens one's opinion. Just because experience is personal does not mean it is mistaken.......
