Ann, When humans are operating under the profit motive, only, they surely can be fallible. In the future, plants can be built to exacting specifications that will keep them safe. We already know it can be done, but the impetus will have to be to make sure it is done properly. If fossil fuels do, indeed, become scarce, there will be more of a reason to employ nuclear energy, and do it in the safest possible manner. You, and in fact me, would prefer to return to the old ways, but the vast majority of humans will not stand for that. Too many humans are being consumed by the comfort, and profit, motives. An attitude that may, very well, lead to our doom. Only time will tell.
