"On the other hand Emile want a tightly controlled group of repressed prelates running the shop. Both groups are identical in the dogmatic follow the instruction manual keep the blinkers on mentality. There is no room for singing and dancing in either place, emotion and action are viewed with suspicion and derision."

The Apostles and their successors were not "a tightly controlled group of repressed prelates running the shop."
They are God-ordained leaders graced by the Holy Spirit to do their job. Do not use the exceptions or deviants to draw conclusions, but use the historical norm!

There is plenty "room for singing and dancing...emotions and actions"!
The thing that seems to disturb you is the fact that the Church doesn't sing the lyrics of American mythology! Remember, Jesus prayed "OUR FATHER" and not the mythical American individualistic conception of "MY FATHER". The Church is a collection of redeemed sinners which must follow the spiritual law of "where two or more are gathered together I will be in their midst"

"Emotions and actions" are NOT viewed with "derision and suspicion" when the object of these emotions is Father, Son and Holy spirit, or when our "actions" are worship and adoration of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob!
