"ALL of those stats are faulty."

Thoughtful and well documented remark. Thanks.

"First, asking the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers to comment on the death penalty is a bit like asking al Qaeda to comment on capitalism."

You are wrong, Bill. They are a very Conservative group of highly educated judges and lawyers who happen to be in the field of justice. You dabble in coaching if I am not mistaken, and probably belong to organizations or issues where you have concern and competence.

"What they don't tell you is that almost every one was released on a technicality"

You would save me some time if you would simply point me to those which were not due to a technicality. Frankly, I will be intrigued at your source. I have a great number of sites bookmarked and have yet to find anything to support your pronouncement.

"Where's the proof for this one? Are they so good at fortune telling that they know what next year will bring?"

Ummm...I think that was a fast ball, Bill!<gg> I believe they merely took the average of the number of wrongful convictions and divided them into the number of years relative to the statistics. I doubt they intended to convey the impression that this average would be predictive! ;-)

"The whole study is a joke"

Virtually the same information is on innumerable websites, including the Bureau of Justice Statistics...so you may be right.;-)
