Male head of household, submissive, homemaking wife, as many children as God provides, and the home schooling. Those features apply more broadly than this one screwy cult. And they were all factors in the tragedy.

An argument can be made that they where factors, but I think the fact that both parents are apparently screwballs has a lot more to do with it. If the parents where stable this wouldn't have happened with or with such a family structure. OTOH millions of people have such family structures without having a disproportionate incidence of killing their children.

Karen, I do not know what their family life was like before they got caught up in that cult, but how they were living at the time of the tragedy, is what could be expected from a follower of that kook. His name is Michael Woroniecki, and it has been said that Andrea's mental problems were caused by his twisted version of Christianity.

I still think that the male should be the head of he household, if he is the one that provides most of the upkeep of the family, and home, but the idea of a submissive, homemaking wife, is not a possibility in this day and time, and I have no objection to that. Having as many children as is possible, is irresponsible IMO, but home schooling has proven to be better than public schooling. I guess it just depends on the way options are used, that causes the results.
