I wasn't stating a fact but rather an alternative explanation of why a certain fact may be true

That is what I just said: "I would appreciate you letting me know if you find any evidentiary data to support any of your speculations"

Do they also have lower crime rates in general? If they have crime rates as high or higher then the rates in the states with a death penalty but have lower murder rates then it would decent evidence to support your conclusion

What are you talking about, Tim? I said nothing about a conclusion. In fact I was responding to your speculation; and I said the following, which was an obvious invitation to you to research your speculative answer and share it with me:

It would be great if you could find some evidence to explain this. Thanks, Tim.

"If these states abolished the death penalty and then relatively quickly the murder rate went down 35% without a similar drop in states that did not abolish the death penalty then you would have a very strong argument."

You are wandering down side streets again, Tim. My expression: "I would be interested in finding out why the murder rate was 35% lower in the States which has abolished the death penalty than those which were executing people" is not an "argument"; it simply states my interest.

As to all your subsequent requests for assistance in looking up stuff, I have already told you that I am not the guardian of that web site of statistics. If you are interested in one of the stats, you can follow it up on your own. I can give you bookmarked sites if you like for your research, but I have no time to pursue your serious interest in that particular web site.

As you know, I posted that web site to a crime buff as a favour to his interest. It seems instead to have teased your interest for which I am gratified. However, I cannot justify running all over the internet answering your questions when I know you are capable of doing your own searches.

Let me know if you find anything to support your speculation that the murder rate is higher in states with high murder rates because of greater demands for the death penalty in states with high murder rates. It is an interesting idea, Tim.
