OK, then: Does locking crooks up in boxes deter other crooks? Evidence? Statistics? Anyone got 'em?

Because, by current the arguments being advance by the death penalty foes, if it doesn't deter, then we shouldn't do it at all.

And the argument "It stops them while they are in jail" doesn't cut it. Because a death penalty prevents all further murders the criminal might have committed.
