It is too bad
I understand the feeling for vengeance
I could go there if I wanted to
But I choose not to. I don't understand elevating those feelings, and even, praising them. Those feelings are not the path for the society I want to live in. I want to live in a society where the state is not in the vengeance business. I don't want the state operating on "feelings". I want the state to weigh guilt or innocence, without regard to the sensationalism of the case or the race or social status of the victim or perpetrator. I want the state to realize that mistakes are made, and that even when they are not, because we, members of the state are not criminals, our "punishment" will be humane, and it will be more about protecting society, than about "hurting" the criminals.

We all want to live in different societies, I think. My ideal society is probably a lot like yours, but not at all like Mr. D's
